About this event

An interactive theatrical experience to create your ideal society in a mega-game of collaboration, competition, and potential. Build, risk, advance, succumb. What happens next depends on you.

Join us for a mega-game of collaboration, competition, and potential Utopia. New Societies draws together the forms of a strategic board game and a theatrical narrative, all shaped by the choices you make as you play. This new interactive digital performance has been a hit with audiences of all ages in cities across Canada. Join us from your home – as a single player, with kids, or with a partner (any combination is possible!) – for the new digital edition of New Societies.

Guided by a set of facilitators, you’ll be placed in groups over a custom online platform to compete against or collaborate with other players in order to build your ideal society. Be careful, because as your choices shape the direction of your group, there are seven other societies also creating an ever growing and responsive landscape.

Filled with humour and levity, New Societies is a playful challenge to reflect on how we operate within our current world, while giving players the opportunity to be the catalysts in crafting a better one.

Play on your own, with a team at home, with friends in an online team! Please note there is a maximum of 6 players per team.

About this event

UnDone is going grey. Fast. Not just physically but socially, psychologically and even technologically. Ghosted by friends and society at large, the aging, isolated musician fades toward invisibility in an East Vancouver that seems increasingly surreal. Can he survive his mission to get to “Mission”? It’s a long shot!

A rock performance piece mining metaphor and comedy in the grey zones of mental illness, Isolation Suite features live music by Cold Calculi (Theatre Conspiracy’s Tim Carlson and Rumble’s own Christie Watson).

Isolation Suite was slated for a Spring 2021 stage premiere but, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the live version has been postponed until next season. In the meantime, we are producing an audio series, supported by music videos and a multimedia website, to be launched on April 15, 2021.

To give you a taste of the show and its music, we’re excited to share this trippy stop-motion video for “We Teach Our Objects How To Speak Our Language” by Margaret Krawecka and Ulla Laidlaw. The video was supported by a grant from Canada Council/CBC’s Digital Originals program.
